What Is The Role Surfactant In Respiration

Thelma and Louise

Thelma Dickinson is a submissive housewife whose husband is no consideration. Louise Sawyer is the best friend of Thelma and works as a waitress in a bar. Both decide to escape for a weekend off for a while about their problems.

In 1979, screenwriter Callie Khouri wrote "Thelma and Louise " his first work for the big screen, while working on a film company and advertisements. And in 1980 he joined as producer Ridley Scott film project that she initially intended to handle. Rejected the script for several studies, the project was finally accepted by Metro Goldwyn Mayer .

However, Khouri was not considered sufficiently prepared to direct the film, which were considered so many names among which were those of Richard Donner, Brian de Palma, John Carpenter or Sidney Lumet. Finally, it would be Ridley Scott himself who carried out a flawless direction of the film.

Choice the final distribution was also a long process. Initially, Scott and Khouri wanted to Natalie Wood and Thelma and Louise and Tuesday Weld. But Wood Weld died in 1981 and then withdrew the project.

And so began a long cast to select the two leading actresses in this story.

Mia Farrow, Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Candice Bergen, Liza Minnelli, Jessica Lange, Isabella Rossellini and Jodie Foster, among many others, had a test for the role of Thelma .

Was finally chosen Geena Davis, actress to the American public had already known through the big screen in 1982 in his debut in "Tootsie" and other titles like "The Fly", "Beetlejuice" or " Accidental Tourist, "and through television appearances on several popular series.

Geena did not disappoint at all as Thelma, making this character the best role of his film career. It is simply masterful.

Michelle Pfeiffer, Melanie Griffith, Vanessa Redgrave, Glenn Close, Mary Steenburgen, Kim Basinger, Ellen Barkin, Anjelica Huston, Sigourney Weaver and Lorraine Bracco chose the role of Louise .

Susan Sarandon was selected. Susan had already been on the big screen since 1969 with titles like "The Front Page", "The Great Waldo Pepper," "Little", "Atlantic City" or "White Palace." And it was also known face on television through series as "Anno Domini" or "Mussolini and Me."

As expected, Susan is also embroidered her character. She is directly Louise.

The choice of the rest of the cast who tucked the two protagonists also required its own work of casting.

Dustin Hoffman, Al Pacino, Jack Nicholson, Robert De Niro, Steve Martin, David Bowie, Tim Curry, Richard Gere, Pierce Brosnan and James Woods were the motley list of candidates the character of Detective Hal Slocumb .

But it was finally Harvey Keitel who got the part. And what about Keitel. One of the best players in the history of film that debuted on the big screen in 1967 and already we were mesmerized by his performances in "Mean Streets," "Alice Does not Live Here Anymore," "Taxi Driver", "The Duellists "or" The Last Temptation of Christ. "

Harvey, of course, we also captured Hal also giving a special character to mankind. Wonderful.

The respective pairs of Thelma and Louise in this story responded with the names of Darryl and Jimmy.

Darryl , Thelma's husband, we came across Christopher McDonald since 1980 on the big screen, but better known as television. Christopher made us very popular in 1994 for her role as a presenter on "Quiz Show." In

"Thelma and Louise " is a scene in which Darryl falls to climb in a timber stacked near his garage. This drop was not in the script, it was real. Ridley Scott felt so natural to the story that left for the movie.

Jimmy Louise's boyfriend. For this character tests were posed to Kevin Costner, Bruce Willis, Chevy Chase or Rick Moranis.

But it was Michael Madsen the ultimately selected. Michael had nine years on the big screen through titles like "War Games", "best" or "The Doors".

next year's film "Thelma and Louise ", Quentin Tarantino chose him for the role of Mr. Blonde / Vic Vega in Reservoir Dogs. " Then came his role of Bud in the two "Kill Bill."

A fourth male character in this story, more secondary but crucial in their development, was DJ The attractive hitchhiker in Thelma is so hard into his car.

Johnny Depp, Tom Cruise, Scott Baio, Christopher Atkins, Sean Penn and Kevin Bacon were among the actors considered for this role. Christian Slater and almost succeeded George Clooney came to make five different tests to access this character.

In an interesting twist of fate, Brad Pitt had lost the battle with William Baldwin in the role of Brian McCaffrey in "Backdraft" (1991). Baldwin had to release of "Thelma and Louise" to film "Backdraft" with DJ's character was free to Brad Pitt.

Brad had made his debut on the big screen in 1987 and only had small roles in his career on such titles as "No Exit" or "Less Than Zero" and various television appearances. "Thelma and Louise " was his letter in the big screen through its more than a correct interpretation of DJ

And one last character in the movie that is very present in all of it. Its excellent sound track .

The German composer Hans Zimmer , leading creator of music that has in his career with other gems like "Driving Miss Daisy," "Green Card", "The Lion King, "" The Rock "," Gladiator, "" The Dark Knight "or the recent" origin ", joined in "Thelma and Louise " its expertise to a superb collection of songs that completed one of the best movie soundtracks.

Presented out of competition at France's Cannes Film Festival, " Thelma and Louise " was released in the U.S., today makes 20 years, the May 24, 1991 .

Among other awards and nominations, only won the Oscar guón the best, but it was also nominated in the categories of director, actress (Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis), photography and editing.

In this ceremony of the Academy Awards, Geena and Susan were nominated in the category of best actress, but it was Jodie Foster won for "The Silence of the Lambs."

Ridley Scott was nominated as best director, but it was Jonathan Demme which took the Oscar for "The Silence of the Lambs." Callie Khouri did get the Best Original Screenplay Oscar, but the statuette for best screenplay adaptado se la llevó Ted Tally… por “El silencio de los corderos”.

The other two actresses won the David di Donatello and the film was also nominated in the French Cesar Awards .

Two wonderful characters, a good script, a wonderful soundtrack and unforgettable story. In short, a great movie in every sense, which today still retains all its values.

" Well, we're at the end of the world, but from here you go ... "

turning walked past when I got to thinking that had long without writing a review. It bothers me to read my reports on key personnel, as if everything he wrote was autobiographical. Hanif Kureishi Rumor has it that "writing is not always as much a reflection of the experience as a substitute. " Sometimes one gets stuck in a bend of mind. Nothing moves. No narration. Then he goes around to the past, a place can shape and amorphous clay. And there, in that soft spot, are. Has its dangers, of course, digging up the past can bring unintended consequences to this. Old pains, passions forgotten riddles lost all mystery, poisons that are reactivated. But they say the old ones out there in the past that has been around long enough, everything is, fragmented into repeating cycles. We fell in love, we live, have children, went down to the portal, go out to hunt a job, lose money, lost illusions, we separate, somebody dies, circulates a cool breeze, we start. So, again and again, until the day comes when you realize that there are no more than minutes.

were the 70's and Avi was groomed as a dandy for a walk. I loved his hat, cane, vest under his jacket, raincoat. He walked slowly. I do not remember what we talked about. We walked down Paseo de Gracia. Barcelona will not be "up" or "low." Merendábamos in the cafeteria Plaza, Plaza Catalunya. Chocolate, coffee, melindros. Back then, rising slowly through which we descended. The Avi was a great Sir, elegant, educadísimo. Always known to have money but died without a penny, not wealth.

"When the grandmother asked for money, left the house and within hours we had a wad of money," says Father. The Avi had no payroll or contracts. He was a salesman, traveling salesman said, a seductive able to handle any sale. A Father was some of that mark.

"He who knows how to sell never goes hungry," said Father to the first turn. Sell-side (hence the tie, dress), sells voice, knowing the conversation modular, masculinity, manicured hands ... -

"When you've sold something, stop selling it. Should be able to stop time-

My youth began with the death of Eduardo Benavente and ended with the suicide of Kurt Cobain. Were the 80's and walked mulling over the future then. I said we were going to Madrid. Barcelona way back to the remote childhoods. White classmate that I had recorded on a cassette the thirty songs that I listened wearily at all times (on one side issues of Paradise, Kaka de Luxe, on the other Alaska, and Los Pegamoides, Demolition Arias, Sex Pistols, Nacha Pop , Joy Division ...) told me:

- Eduardo Benavente is dead! Has been in a car accident. My brother says it was very wrong, he was hooked, that things look bad-

White's brother played in a group, Deserts, which made us assume that accurate information available as they rubbed shoulders with the elite the national R'n'R. A few days later in "The Golden Age" Paloma Chamorro Eduardo gave the program and announced that the issue of that day would see the last performance of permanent paralysis. Pale, haggard, thin, beautiful, Eduardo sang that he wanted to be holy, blessed, go to Rome to see the Pope. There was no future.

------------------------------------------------ ------------- Suddenly

were the 90's and had spent a decade in which stupid I did nothing but waste time. I wanted to be a painter, but hey, all that I have spoken a thousand times until the cows. Neither painter nor a shit. Binge drinking had no grace. The days began to be Cubist. Then nothing really worth the trouble. Had to live to hear silly phrases: "everything is learned," "strong and will come", "I will love you forever", "you have talent, be patient" ...

An adult is someone who has had a childhood overwhelming Kureishi says the same here as before.

What Is Best Fabric For Skirt

Rodrigo Mendoza has been mercenary and slave trader. The is Jesuit Father Gabriel. The two will fight to defend the mission of San Carlos. The first one with the power of his sword, the second with the strength of their faith ...

A wonderful story based on real events that occurred in 1750 on the border between Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay, where English and Portuguese divided the world and also the native Guarani, whose only defense was the walls of the missions.

The May 16, 1986 ago today 25 years, was premiered at the Festival de Cannes " The Mission", an extraordinary production Fernando Ghia and David Puttnam for Warner Bros. Pictures .

" A majestic spectacle"
( Jack Kroll, Newsweek )

Directed by Roland Joffé British, who already had given us two years ago, "The Killing Fields," his debut film, "Mission " also had a masterful photography of Chris Menges, architect also of the images of "The Killing Fields."

History tells us this film and its script, were the work of Robert Bolt , legendary British writer of history titles del cine como “Lawrence de Arabia”, “Doctor Zhivago”, “La hija de Ryan”, “Un hombre para la eternidad” o “Motín a bordo”.

" Indeed, how could the Indians assume that the death of that dark priest would bring with them a man whose life would be inextricably intertwined with theirs? "

The wonderful character of Father Gabriel reached us masterfully through Jeremy Irons. The British actor had only nine titles since his debut film at the cinema in 1980 with "Nijinsky" but behind it already had a fruitful television production since 1971.

" God has imposed the burden of freedom. Choose your crime, do you have courage to choose your penance? "

Robert De Niro gave life to perfection Rodrigo Mendoza. De Niro and twenty-four had titles for the big screen since he began his film career in 1965 with "Three Rooms in Manhattan."

The deal was completed with names like Ray McAnally, Aidan Quinn, Ronald Pickup or Liam Neeson.

And Daniel Berrigan, here as the oldest priest of the Order, which in real life was a Jesuit and well known for his work on behalf of human rights and social justice.

Many of the Guarani of the story were authentic natives who spoke little or no English, so they were given free rein to say whatever they wanted in their respective sentences.

" a film of enormous power and beauty "
( Dennis Cunningham, CBS-TV)

" The Mission "won the Palme at the Cannes Film Festival awarded by a jury chaired by Sydney Pollack. David was also the recipient di Donatello for Best Foreign Film and was nominated in the same category in the French Cesar Awards .

Only
won the Oscar for Best Cinematography , was also nominated in the categories of film, director, editing, soundtrack, art direction and costume design.

obtained the Golden Globe for best screenplay and best original score and is also nominated film director and actor (Jeremy Irons).

was also awarded the British Bafta Award for Best Actor (Ray McAnally), best editing and best original score. And he was also nominated film, direction, photography, costume design, production design, original screenplay, sound and visual effects.

" The events in this film are real. Probably does not happen in the exact way to show them, but they approach much a reality. It is a moving story about the political reality versus the best of human nature. We are of animal nature and thus destroy what we love for selfish interests and goals, yet we are tortured by the feeling that there are other options if we had the strength to carry them out. In political terms are four hundred years ago the same issues with which we fight today "
(Roland Joffé . Los Angeles, November 2002)

Short Hair Cuts For Black Wome Dvd

Mission WANT TO LIVE AS JACKIE COOPER

about two ago I spent weeks, once again, by Chez Morera, a blog that is already a second home for me. And I found a pleasant surprise. NatsnoC , distinguished host of this unique blog, invited us all to be part of a joint project that is now beginning to bear fruit under the name of Week Utopia. Be sure to peek at proposals of the various participants. Well worth.

Utopia ... The first thing that came to me to mind was a family. But not just any family, no. Have any family very little utopian. I mean the Sycamore family Vanderhoff. What, you do not know who they are? But I present them, and with great taste.

On August 23, 1938 U.S. premiere of "Live like you want ( You can not take it with you ), a delicious film is now a classic in its own right, the history of cinema.

Through Columbia Pictures comes this Frank Capra production , magical director had given us and other wonders such as "It Happened One Night", "Mr. Deeds" and "Lost Horizon."

Martin Vanderhoff is the grandfather of this magical family. An ambitious businessman who one day decides not to return to your company for the simple reason that not having fun nothing there. Then begins to do the things you love, like playing the harmonica or stamps which also paid well to value.

This wonderful grandfather, without a doubt one of the most lovable of all movie history, was masterfully played by Lionel Barrymore undoubtedly also one of the actors larger than has been the big screen. Lionel gave us a memorable character through this story and, eight years later, gave us another great role also under the command of Frank Capra, the evil Mr. Potter from "What a Wonderful Life."

When he started the set of "Live like you want , Lionel Barrymore had suffered paralysis in his legs due to severe arthritis and a hip injury. The script was modified to adapt to it, letting us know that his character had suffered a sprained ankle. The actor shot the entire film with the aid of crutches. How great, Lionel Barrymore.

The script for this unforgettable story was based on the novel by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart , and Robert had been signed by Riskin, screenwriter customary in the Capra film. "American Madness," "Lady for a Day", "It Happened One Night", "Strictly Confidential," "Mr. Deeds", "Lost Horizon", "John Doe" or "A Pocketful of Miracles" were born the fruit of their work together.

Joseph Walker was the architect of the images and Dimitri Tiomkin added his expertise to the soundtrack. The filming of "Live like you want " began in late April 1938 and came to an end in just under two months.

PENNY SYCAMORE is the daughter of Martin Vanderhoff. Penny used to be devoted to painting. But now writes plays because one day brought home by a typewriter error.

Spring Byington endorsed this character so charming. Three years later, again to coincide with Frank Capra in "John Doe". Byington also became very familiar to us as Marmee, the mother of "The Four Sisters" in its 1933 version.

PAUL SYCAMORE is the husband of Penny. It is also dedicated to do what he likes, manufacture rockets in the basement with Mr. DePino and Mr. Poppins.

The SR. DePino been with the family one day, nine years ago, came to deliver ice ... and stayed. The Mr. POPPINS worked in a bank adding and squaring numbers. But he really likes to "do things" with which accepts the invitation of Grandpa Vanderhoff and is also living with the family.

Samuel S. Hinds he lent his impeccable appearance to Paul Sycamore. Samuel had worked before the orders of Capra in "Lady for a Day" and then do it again in the role of the father of James Stewart's character in "What a Wonderful Life." Interestingly Hinds also played Mr. March 1933, husband of Spring Byington character in "Four sisters. "

Halliwell Hobbes, or the charming Mr. DePino, worked a second time with Capra after "Lady for a Day." A Donald Meek, the singular Mr. Poppins, also remembered as Samuel Peacock, the representative of liquors "Stagecoach."

Frank Capra became aware of the play " You can not take it with you " when he saw her in 1937 in New York , where he come for the premiere of "Lost Horizon."

The original work of Hart and Kaufman won the 1937 Pulitzer Prize for Drama . It was premiered on December 14, 1936 and had a total of 838 performances. In the theatrical cast the actor Henry Travers appeared in the role of grandfather. Ten years later, Travers came in our hearts forever through his character of Clarence, the angel without wings "" What a Wonderful Life. "

The play was still on the bill when it premiered its film adaptation. While appearing on stage only 19 characters, the film went on to add up to 153.

CARMICHAEL ESSI is a daughter of Paul and Penny. What she wants is to be a dancer and that is dedicated to dance and make some sweets which he calls "dreams of love."

Ann Miller he was only fifteen when he played Essie in this movie. Later became one of the greatest dancers of the American musical.

ALICE is the other couple's daughter Sycamore. Has a special relationship with his grandfather and works as a secretary at the prestigious Kirby.

Jean Arthur had worked with Capra in "Mr. Deeds" and again agree with him, and James Stewart in "Mr. Smith Goes." Interestingly Jean was only 22 years younger than Lionel Barrymore, her grandfather in "Live like you want ."

TONY KIRBY is vice president of the Kirby Company, despite having no business sense. It is also the son of the owner of the company. There he met Alice Sycamore with whom he strikes up a close relationship derives a commitment of marriage, of course, parents do not approve.

James Stewart was chosen for this role after seeing Frank Capra in "Sea Cadets." "Live like you want " marked his first collaboration together. After match again in "Mr. Smith Goes" and "What a Wonderful Life."

"Live like you want " obtained en la ceremonia de los Premios de la Academia el Oscar a la mejor película y al mejor director. También fue nominada a la mejor actriz secundaria (Spring Byington), mejor guión, mejor fotografía, mejor montaje y mejor sonido.

ANTHONY P. KIRBY es el dueño de la Compañía Kirby. Dispone de un séquito a su alrededor y cuenta con varios abogados trabajando en exclusiva para él. Y seguramente por todo esto tiene deshecho el estómago.

Edward Arnold offered us an interpretation of the anthology as the almighty Mr. Kirby. Later, Arnold came to agree with Capra in "Mr. Smith Goes" and "John Doe". Magistral.

MIRIAM KIRBY is the wife of Anthony and Tony's mother. Also the most resistant to his son's relationship with Alice.

Mary Forbes was perfect replica of Edward Arnold in the role of woman and fit her character admirably.

The wonderful main cast was completed seamlessly with Dub Taylor as the husband of Essie, Mischa Auer Kolenkhov as his dance teacher, Harry Davenport as the judge or fun Ward Bond as one of the detectives.

With HB Warner (Ramsey), Lillian Yarbo (Rheba), Eddie Anderson (Donald) ... and a long and splendid and so on.

"Live like you want " today is a mythical title of the big screen. And not only for his excellent leadership, impeccable script or his fine cast.

But also to have the family starring Vanderhoff Sycamore, one of the most authentic and endearing family film history. Family whose members, especially the grandfather, his words convey to us a set of core values \u200b\u200bthat still we are lacking in our society. Values \u200b\u200bof those who all claim to be true and legitimate, but none come to implement.

I now go to live in the home of the Sycamore Vanderhoff. To do just what I really want, what really amused me.

Do not you?
